„Stilul lui Tracee Ellis Ross este transcendent”, a spus Jen Neal, directorul general al E! News. „Influența ei în enteratainement și fashion este incomparabilă și suntem încântați să o onorăm cu Fashion Icon Award.”
Stilul actriței și fondatoarei mărcii Pattern Beauty constă dintr-un amestec eclectic de culori îndrăznețe și ținute dramatice de la designeri importanți precum Valentino, Chanel, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs și multe altele. De asemenea, ea și-a folosit stilul ca o modalitate de a promova designerii de culoare. În mod deosebit, Ross a găzduit American Music Awards în 2018 purtând o serie de look-uri concepute exclusiv de designeri și branduri aparținând comunității de culoare, printre care Pyer Moss, Off-White, Sergio Hudson, LavieByCk și CD Greene, printre altele.
Vedeta, în vârstă de 48 de ani a ales pentru ceremonia de premiere un ansamblu alb Alexander McQueen, cu cizme de piele înalte.
Pe lângă faptul că a mulțumit industriei revistelor și stilistilor și designerilor cu care a lucrat de-a lungul anilor, a adus omagiu și mamei sale, superstarul Diana Ross.
„Evident, trebuie să mulțumesc celei are a fost un icon în sine, mama mea. Nu numai pentru calitățile ei de părinte și pentru că nu a cedat numeroasele mele dorințe capricioase și revoltătoare … ci și pentru stilul ei, pentru dressingul ei epic și strălucirea care m-au introdus în lumea modei”, a povestit Tracee.

Tracee Ellis Ross este a treia personalitate premiată cu Fashion Icon Award, după Gwen Stefani și Victoria Beckham. Ea este onorată alături de Jennifer Lopez, care a primit People’s Icon Award.
J-Lo a avut o apariție de zile mari în cadrul galei. Aceasta a ales o rochie roșie cu volum atât în partea de sus cât și în partea de jos, iar la capitolul coafură a optat pentru coada devenită deja o semnătură a ei.
Pe scenă au evoluat Justin Bieber, care a cântat hitul Holy’ și noua piesă Lonely’, iar Chloe X Halle au interpretat Ungodly Hour’.
